With the return of original singer Carah Faye, the electronic indie rock band Shiny Toy Guns are back in a big way. Carah’s return was announced last month and the single “The Sun” was recently released on their site.

I had the chance to chat with Carah and Jeremy on a Sunday afternoon a few weeks back during Grammy weekend. After a late night on the town, I met the duo for coffee in Hollywood where we chatted about the rebirth of Shiny Toy Guns, their upcoming album, all things social media…and their love of Eminem’s new artist Yelawolf! It was the best afternoon ever!

On Getting Back Together:

On Their Upcoming Album:

The band has mastered the art of connecting directly with their fan base. Shiny Toy Guns were one of the first bands to successfully leverage MySpace, and they’ve partnered with brands along the way to further their reach. Following the ability to stay ahead of the pack when it comes to new media trends, Carah and Jeremy recently shot a personalized video for Valentine’s Day with a flip cam for one lucky bidder. All proceeds from the auction went to charity.

On Reaching Fans Online:

Their musical influences are far and few between from hip hop to dubstep.
See what they have to say about Yelawolf, a rapper signed to Eminem’s Shady Records label. Anyone else see a collaboration in the near future?!

What’s in Jeremy’s player:

An endorsement to Trunk Popping:

STG and Yelawolf will both be in Austin for the SXSW Festival.

The album III is slated to drop sometime this summer. The single “The Sun” is available now.

This mix serves as sort of a substitute for the August Edition of the monthly mixtape series. It may also serve as a mix for September, as I’ll be traveling for the majority of the month!

I’m thrilled to report that next week, I’m traveling to Argentina to serve as a Brand Ambassador for Tom’s Shoes. I’ll be participating in Tom’s One Millionth Shoe Drop and covering the experience here from my Blackberry Torch. I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty excited for the trip. Not only to participate in the Tom’s Shoes experience but to visit places I’ve never been before – Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls!

Much more to come, very soon. In the meantime, lean back, turn it up – and hope u enjoy

Arcade Fire, seminal indie band with the #7 record in the country (previously at #1), has teamed up with director Chris Milk and the good folks over at Google Chrome Experiments to create an interactive music video for the single We Used To Wait.

The first of it’s kind, the video utilizes Google maps + HTML 5 video, audio and canvas to present a multi-window, choreographed experience.

Simply enter the address of the house you grew up in and the feature takes it from there.

The experience was designed to work in Google Chrome, but seems to work in Safari too.

I’d rather not spoil anything – check it out for yourself, here!
